Directions
Balaleet is one of the most cherished dishes in Emirati cuisine, celebrated for its unique blend of sweet and savory flavors. At its heart are vermicelli noodles, cooked and lightly sautéed in ghee, then delicately spiced with aromatic cinnamon and cardamom. A touch of sugar brings out the sweetness, while raisins and slivered almonds add bursts of flavor and texture.
What makes Balaleet truly special is its versatility. Traditionally paired with eggs, it can be customized to suit your preferences:
- With Scrambled Eggs – Soft, fluffy scrambled eggs are mixed into the noodles, blending perfectly with the spices for a comforting and cohesive dish.
- With Fried Eggs – Sunny-side-up or over-easy eggs are placed on top, adding a luxurious richness. The crispy edges of the fried eggs and the runny yolk enhance the overall texture and flavor.
- With Boiled Eggs – A classic version that highlights simplicity and elegance. Boiled eggs, cooked to perfection, are peeled and sliced before being arranged atop the sweet noodles. Their smooth texture and mild flavor balance the aromatic and spiced sweetness of the dish.
Balaleet is more than just a meal—it’s a celebration of flavors and traditions. Whether you enjoy it as a breakfast, dessert, or light snack, this dish embodies the warmth and hospitality of Emirati culture. Explore the different versions, choose your favorite, and savor the harmonious combination of sweet noodles and eggs in every bite!
This dish is a balanced combination of carbs from the noodles, healthy fats from the ghee, and protein from the eggs, making it a satisfying and nourishing meal. Adjust ghee, sugar, and toppings to meet specific dietary needs!
