1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 egg, beaten

For the sauce
3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup water
2 tbsp chicken broth (or water)
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 dried red chilies (optional, for heat)
